A few short months since Zoot's A's
and B's Scrapbook (five stars from Amazon, despite
their troubles - see below) burst onto an unsuspecting marketplace,
another CD of old favourites has now been made available on
Repertoire records.
It's already earned four-and-a-half stars from
the highly respected All
Music Guide, who have voted it an AMG pick. Don't try and
buy it from there, though, because the "buy" buttons
weren't working on their site when we last checked.
Zoot! Live at Klook's Kleek
was the Big Roll Band's first proper album. Coincidentally it
was also the first album to be produced by the legendary Gus
Dudgeon, who was reminiscing fondly about it just before his
tragic death in 2002. To read Gus's contemporaneous account
of the whole Big Roll Band experience, go to the on
disc page and click on the album cover.
To buy the CD reissue, which also carries a new
interview with Zoot himself, click here.
To go via Amazon, click here.
If you're quick you'll see their comedy version, however they
have been alerted, so with luck the CDs will be correctly identified
by the time you get there. The main thing is you can buy them.
Go on - you know you want to.

FAME AT
LAST!

Following a couple of try-outs with the Zoot
Money band, most recently at Ronnie Scott's last October to
raise money for Children with Cancer (see RD Crusaders pic below),
drummer Richard Desmond went back to his day job.
Nothing if not persistent, he sent a couple
of his boys round to Zoot's house last week to see if he could
pick up a few tips. Luckily Zoot was in receptive mood, and
the result was splashed all over this week's Sunday Express
as one of the main features in their Blues special.
Really, some people will do anything to get
a gig.
