SEVEN
GONGS FOR ZOOT-PRODUCED TRACK

Road Movie - the
Director's Cut: (available from Cuppa Records)
Clone
July,
from Woodstock Taylor & the Aliens' debut CD, produced by Zoot
and also featuring the talents of Colin Hodgkinson, Ronnie Johnson,
Marc Johnson and Pete Brown, was Jazz Track of the
Day on indie music site GarageBand on May 18, and has won
accolades in SIX more categories: During May it
achieved No 1 for Best Female Vocals, Best Lyrics and
Moodiest Track, plus No 2 Best Elevator Track (go figure),
No 2 Most Original Track and No 3 Most Rockin' Track. Garageband
operates a blind reviewing policy, so ratings are based purely on
listeners' impressions of the music itself. Check out
Clone July for yourself at GarageBand.
Following
the success of the album's title track, voted Track of the Year 2003
by Radio Six International, and a long spell on the Radio Six
playlist, Road Movie is now online at Sonic
Garden for your listening pleasure.
Both
tracks are now available on a 4-song EP entitled Summer
Hysteria, now available from Cuppa
Records. |

FOLLOWING A
RIP-ROARING TOUR ALONGSIDE PETER BELLI, CLIFF BENNETT
& THE REBEL ROUSERS AND TONY SHERIDAN, Zoot reports in on last month's British invasion
of Denmark....
A fine set of young lunatic Danes
(rather reminiscent of my first encounter with Peter
Thorup) were the "5 Roses" that the amicable, talented
Peter Belli assembled to back himself, Cliff and myself
in Denmark. Of course Tony Hall (tenor) + Bob Lovett
(trumpet) from Cliff's Rousers had no trouble augmenting
with them to form a coherent rocking ensemble.
-
Greve, Copenhagen:
Portalen Musichouse is a stunning venue, filled with
musically informed people. Just being back in
Copenhagen (20 yrs from last visit) staying across the
road from the Tivoli (where I first saw George Karl!)
did it for me.
-
Aalborg - lovely
clean place...and thanks for the College of Make-up
for having their event in the hotel with girls from
all over the world! Thanks to the ferry captain for
finding my mobile on the bar seat left on the trip
some two hours before...drat those Elephant
Carlsbergs.
-
Silkeborg, a week
later couldn't stay sober from 6pm til we started at
11pm to watch us after several Country flavoured
bands. Nevertheless a very lively bunch by the end,
not surprising since they have Newcastle Brown on
draught in that area.
-
Total contrast to the final gig in
the event-built Thomas Jensen Musichouse hall in
Arhus. Good band, good audiences AND
Elephant beer!
Thanks to everyone who came or
organised the trip. Hope to go back....thanks Calle.

1960s. We don't know the exact release date yet

Damage | Zoot was very upset to hear from Darryl Read of the recent
death of the writer and designer Bernard White.
Founder of the Syd Barrett Appreciation society,
who started Terrapin
magazine with punk artist Jamie Reid, Bernard was widely
acknowledged as the world's leading aficionado on the Pink Floyd's
reclusive former lead singer.
Written by Bernard White, the cult film "Remember A Day", which came out last year,
examines the relationship between a reclusive rock star and one of
his fans. It stars Darryl Read as the character based on Barrett and
Zoot Money as the fan who stalks him. The cast list also includes
Jenny Fabian, Peter Jenner, Jon Moss, Jamie Foreman, Dave Goodman
and Ronnie Carroll.
You can read more about the making of the film here.
