Thunderclap
Newman first recorded and released 'Something In The Air"
in 1969, and immediately had a Number One hit on their hands.
With the single and album gaining runaway success, the band
hit the road and proved to be a crowd pleaser, with guitarist
Pete Goodall joining the action. The band was originally put
together by Pete Townshend, although he did not perform with
the band.
CIVIL
UNREST
'Something In The Air' is a political anthem that has been
performed numerous times since 1969, covered by numerous and
very diverse artistes, but the time is right for the band
that instigated the song to give it a new breath of life.
2004, and is life really so different? Terrorism...Crime...War...Poverty?
But the song is also about the fact that there is hope, hope
that civilisation can actually change, and become just that
... Civilised.
WAR
The 2004 version has tried to stick to the spirit of the 1969
version but obviously with a line up change (including of
course, the addition of Zoot Money), and 35 years of evolution,
there has to be a change in the overall feel. Producer Simon
Hanhart, also the man behind the massive reworked single 'Perfect
Day', worked hard to create a track that lived up to the legacy
of the song, but also stamped its own mark on the new millennium.
